My Fifteen Minutes of Fame

Actually, it’s closer to three, but I’m still tickled about it.
A little over a year ago, I joined “Art-N-Soul,” a local organization created by artist and entrepreneur Janet Tanguay, whose purpose is to support and promote area artists in all media.  Janet has recently developed a project entitled “Art-N-Soul Inc. TV,” where the experts at Cotton Hill Studios in Colonie, NY, produce a video of an artist in his or her studio and publish it on YouTube.  Janet asked me if I felt adventurous enough to be the first artist to be taped, and I was delighted.
It was a great experience from beginning to end; Janet and I prepared questions for the taping; the extremely professional crew from Cotton Hill “scouted” my studio to determine if the location would be suitable; and the taping took about 4 hours.
I’ve included the first 3 minutes of the video above; the complete version can be seen here, if you’ve got a little more time to view it.  Janet and the people from Cotton Hill did such a wonderful job of making me feel comfortable throughout the entire process – I can’t thank them enough.
“I’m ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille.”

You look as though you have spent your life in front of the camera. What a wonderful presentation....it now feels almost as if we have actually met......I have adored your work from the first time I saw it.....and did I see MORE than 40 ribbons????

Wowee! What an incredible video. Professional, wonderful, inspiring, all the things that everyone has mentioned. It was beautifully done. I am so pleased to have grown to know you and your works thru blogging. I marvel at your applying math to your quilts. As a math dropout :-) I struggle with that side of things. You talked about your struggle with improv, and that's how I have to approach things. Interesting how everyone creates in their own ways. Your one in a million and it showed thru beautifully with this video. Now I'm inspired to look at things a different way. Is it true that 2 plus 2 is still 4??? :-)
Congrats! Diane!

Diane, I've been following your blog and this interview is wonderful. It's so nice to hear and see the people who create all the beautiful things we look at on blogs. Wish we could all do one. Thanks for sharing all your work.

I just watched the entire youtube! So great to hear you 'speak' words rather then read your words (which I still love to do!). I've always admired your workmanship and strive to perfect mine. Great job!!

Well, I just love this interview! I'm late in responding but this post is timeless...I think I'll return periodically.

Math was one of my majors too...hard to believe, I know. It was the patterns that got me....statistics (called Experimental Stat in my day) and the like in predicting events and behavior. Why couldn't some of that rub off on me?

I LOVE how math has informed your work! Thank you! You are an inspiration.

Fabulous! You have given such a wonderful presentation here. Not only are you amazingly skilled behind a sewing machine, (and seem to have a terrific understanding of the principles of math... way over my head) but you also are skilled in front of a camera... Norma Desmond would be envious!

You are a true renaissance woman.

Well, I'm quite in awe. That was a wonderful video...you were very poised and articulate, which makes watching a video like this that much more pleasing. I'm going to watch it again since I know I didn't absorb it all the first time. Your studio is very nice....organized and not a single thing out of place! Thanks so much for sharing and congratulations!!
